Chyna- KL Hilton

Last week, I managed to had my luxury dinner at Chyna in KL Hilton with 3 of my friends. Chyna is a Halal Chinese restaurant that served wide variety of Chinese cuisines.

I was late to the dinner, my friends had decided to ordered a 7 course meal for dinner. Chyna 7 course meal is served individually for every fined cuisine. Unlike other course meal, it is normally served in a single big portion and share among others.

Below are the 7 course meal we had that night... Yummy...

  • The four season

The four season is one of the best course in this meal. It is consists of a siu mai (on the spoon), lightly pan fried salmon, fresh salad prawn and a grilled scallop. The siu mai is made of fish and chicken, served hot and fresh! The salmon is finished with some cranberries sauce to add more flavours on it. Both the prawn and scallop are very fresh!! Yummy!!

  • Buddha jump over the wall

Next was the 'soup of the night' , Buddha Jump over the Wall! It consits of lots of shark fins, chicken breast meats, sliced of abalone and scallop. There are really a lot of shark fins inside the soup! The soup is not too salty , just nice.. No taste of MSG! All the ingredients and herbs had certainly add a lot of flavours to the soup! Feel very warm after drinking this soup!! Yummy!

  • Steam Cod Fish

A very simple yet delicious meal. The cod fish is very fresh and not over cooked. The portion is just nice for 1 person. good!

  • Prawn in special sauce

The prawn is really big and fresh!!! The sauce is really special- oyster sauce, curry leaves, onions, garlics and dried shrimps! Love it!!

  • Sea cucumber with vegetables

Simple and nice! The sea cucumber and sliced abalone's texture is good. The side dish - mushroom, broccoli and tofu (especially!!) are delicious. Good!

  • Fried Rice

Very nice. There is very fresh scallop on top of the fried rice. The fried rice is fried till golden brown and there are a lot of prawns and long beans in the fried rice. Love it too!!! ( but i am too full to finish all)

  • Desert- Lime sherbet with aloe vera and jelly

A very special desert where rarely served by Chinese restaurant. The Lime sherbet is very sour!! It certainly helps me to feel better and digest after a heavy meal! I love it. The aloe vera and jelly are top up with some honey! Very nice too!!

Overall rating:

Ying Ker Lou, Chinese-Hakka Cuisine

Its been quite long since i update this blog...
Anyway i would like to share with u all one of my 'eating' experience at The curve...
While me and 2 of my friends were walking around to decide what to have for lunch, we came across a Chinese restaurant that serve Hakka cuisine. After some quick discussion, we decided to try this restaurant out

What had really attract me in this restaurant are, the dishes are low oil, low salt and serve no MSG (Mono Sodium Glutamate) at all!! It is very healthy!!! Love it..

Inside the restaurant

The dishes we ordered were;
  • 2 Bowl of Soup for sharing.

The soups are Stew Yellow Cucumber Soup with sliced pork and Stew watercress soup with sliced pork.. Both of the soup are very delicious!! The soup has been braised for very long, as it has a very strong taste of its ingredients.. It certainly allow me to absorb the nutrient from the ingredients and herbs!!
  • Abacus

This is a very traditional dish. It is also one of my favourite Hakka dish. The yam is filled into rice flour dough and shaped it like an abacus. It was later fried together with some Chinese carrot, black fungus sliced, bean curb, sliced pork and spring onion. The restaurant had cooked it quite well!!!

  • Steam Dumpling

There offer variety of dumplings or kau qi. There are different types of fillings. There are also fried ones. The dumpling's has a lot of filling which make it very delicious!!!

  • 2 bowl of rice and Tea for sharing!!

There offer normal white rice and brown rice. We order each one for sharing!
The tea pot is heavier than you think!!!!

  • Stew beef sliced with Bitter gourd

Nice!!! The beef is very soft and tender. The bitter gourd has certainly add flavours to the sauce of the dish. Surprisingly for someone who don't really like bitter gourd, I had enjoyed this dish a lot
  • Pork with black fungus
Not bad, the pork is very soft. The black fungus is quite crunchy and fresh too. The dish is not too salty, it is very nice to eat with rice!
  • Nam Yu fried chicken

The chicken is marinated with nam yu and later fried. The chicken is very crispy and tasty. Not very oily. Although the nam yu taste is very strong but it is not too salty. Like it too!!

There is also another branch at Sunway Pyramid :)

Overall rating:
  • Environment : 7/10 (clean and decent)
  • Food : 7.5/10 (thumbs up for no MSG)
  • Service : 7/10
  • Price : can't remember :p

Restoran Makanan Laut Chong Fatt

Last week, I went to Setapak to have dinner at a famous Chinese restaurant at that area.
The restaurant is called, Restoran Makanan Laut Chong Fatt.

The Menu...

It is just a typical Chinese restaurant which offers a wide range of variety of Chinese cuisines. The restaurant is very packed and customer come non stop!!...They also serve special dishes where u need to order in advance, such as ; Buddha jump over the wall, pun choi, etc...

Order in advance dishes...

The only thing i don't quite like to dine in this restaurant is - super hard to get parking!! This area is super crowded.. There are a lots of car illegally parked along the road side, which had make others hard to drive....

The restaurant address is as below :

The Restaurant address...

We order quite a lot of dishes on that day.....Was very full and hardly finish it.
Some of the food i had miss out the pictures hehe....

My table...

Below are the dishes .....

My first dish : Shark FinS with scallop

  • Very nice!!! It was served individually, each a bowl
  • A few slices of shark fins, the 'soup base' is not too salty.
  • The scallop is also fresh, but kinda stingy only 1 scallop in each bowl
  • Taste even better when it served with some bean sprouts.

Clay pot Stewed 'Mountain Goat' with ginger in special sauce

  • As I am not really a mutton fan, the dish is just OK to me only
  • The sauce tasted like the ordinary stewed meat black sauce.
  • Good if eat with rice..

Fried lotus root with green peas and almond.

  • Nice! the lotus and green peas are fresh!
  • Not too salty and lots of almonds.

Prawn in special sauce

  • I don't really like it!
  • The sauce tasted super weird ; a mixture of Japanese Curry and Mamee snack salt
  • The prawn is not very fresh so i think that is why they cook it this way
  • Lots of MSG!!! Very disappointed!

Steam fish

  • Don't remember whats the name of the fish
  • But it tasted OK, not over cook and quite fresh

Roasted Pork ribs with special butter sauce

  • Nice!!! love it a lot!
  • The pork rib was roasted to brown and crispy skin!!
  • The meat is not hard to bite
  • The butter sauce is really tasty and brings very good aroma to the rib!

2 dishes i forgot to took picture was ; the Tofu and the desert. The tofu is very soft and smooth but i forgotten the name of the dish. While for desert, i order a bowl of snow jelly with hasma (cold). It is good!! Unlike other restaurant, they are very generous in giving the snow jelly into the desert. There are lots of snow jelly (in big pieces), even more than hasma!. Also there are some 'ginseng' inside the desert.

Overall the restaurant do serve good food. There are still lots more to try out from this place.

Overall rating:

  • Environment : 5/10
  • Food : 6/10 (haven't try others)
  • Service : 6.5/10
  • Price : not sure was treated by others hehe... (should be similar to other Chinese restaurant as they have many visitors)

Restaurant Bu Yi Bao

Last night, me and Kit decided to had our dinner at a Chinese restaurant in Kepong Prima (super busy and crowded area). The restaurant is called Bu Yi Bao.
We had visited this restaurant once quite long ago, around mid of last year. But during that time I didn't really taste the food well as I ate very little.

Inside the restaurant..

It is just a normal Chinese restaurant that offer different kind of cooking - chicken, pork, fish, prawn, abalone vegetables, tofu and noodles. However, this restaurant is famous and well known for offering a wide variety of Soup. Even the logo of this restaurant is a pot of soup!!

The Menu...

This Chinese restaurant is situated along the shop lots at Kepong prima. Is super hard for me to describe its exact location, so I decided to give u the address that I manage to capture from its Menu.

The address...

The main specialty of this restaurant that attract so many customer is the wide range of soup they offer the menu. There are many kinds of herb soup for different purpose ; nourishment, revitalised energy, kids, men and women. I had to admit that the soup is quite good!..

After some time of 'reading' the menu, we decided to order ; Spare pork ribs with sweet and sour sauce, Stewed Hua Shan Taufu (own specialty), Hong Kong Choy Sam with garlic, a plate of fried rice, a bowl of Cordyceps and scallop nourishing soup and a glass of soy bean milk each.

My drinks...

The soup is really good. There are different kinds of herbs (beside cordyceps), black skinned chicken breast, and scallop in the soup. It certainly been cooked for quite some time and the taste of the herbs had certainly bring lots of flavour to the soup. It is very refreshing and nice to drink while it is still hot!

Cordyceps & Scallop nourishing soup.
The spare ribs with sweet and sour sauce is also very good. The pork ribs was fried and lightly cook again with the sweet and sour sauce.. I like this dish too as the pork ribs was fried till crispy and the sauce tasted good !

Spare Rib

Next was the Stewed Hua Shan Taufu. It was OK, the tofu was very soft and smooth. But i don't like the sauce of it, kind a lot of MSG and starch.

Stewed Hua Shan Taufu

The Hong Kong Choy Sam with garlic is nice. The choy sam is very fresh and its still 'crunchy' when i bite it.. nice.. They also put some small anchovies on top of the vegetables. But the small anchovies is soooo SALTY!! It might taste good with rice, but it certainly makes me feel very thirsty!!

Hong Kong Choy Sam with garlic

The fried rice is also finished with lots of small anchovies spread on top of the rice. The rice tasted not too bad.. But again the anchovies is too salty, also the cook put a lot of MSG on the fried rice. I don't quite like to eat too much MSG as its make

The fried rice with small anchovies...

The service and environment of the restaurant is like the normal Chinese restaurant..
However after our we finish most of our food, the restaurant do give a small piece of Gui Ling Gou each, as desert. It is free...

Overall rating:
Environment : 6/10
Food : 6/10 (haven't try others)
Service : 6/10
Price : Everything above cost Rm69.00 (included 5% govt tax and 10% service charge)

Werner's at Changkat

On Xmas night, I went to Werner's for a simple Xmas+Birthday dinner with Queen and Kit.
I really like the environment and the interior of this restaurant.. The atmosphere is really nice especially during rainy days...

The restaurant is situated opposite the Radius International Hotel along Changkat Bukit Bintang. If i am not wrong, the owner of Werner's also own the famous German Restaurant, El Cerdo (along Changkat Bukit Bintang). There are plenty of good and beautiful restaurant and bars along Changkat Bukit Bintang...

Outside the restaurant.

Werner's is a hang out place with a large variety of food, wines, beers, cocktails and good music.
There are 2 floors ; Ground Floor- dining and bar and 1st Floor-dinning and lounge area.

Ground floor..

Some wall decorations

Since 3 of us are not too hungry, so we decided to order some tapas for sharing and a drink each.
We ordered tatapas (potato wedges), Caesar salad, spicy sausage with special sauce, spicy fried chicken wings and shrimps with garlic. As for the drinks; I had a Lychee Martini, Queen had Sangria while Ah Kit ordered his favourite Beer , Weihanstephan (malt).

Our Drinks....

Weihanstephan (malt)

  • Super good! love it.
  • Me and Ah Kit order about 5-6 bottles
  • He drink the most while I sip it once a while.

Here are the food....

Caesar Salad

  • Not bad, the vegetables are fresh, bread crumbs are also 'crispy'
  • Lots of cheese , small portion -good for appetiser.

Tatapas (Potato wedges)

  • Nice..
  • Not too crispy but it was nice!

Spicy Sausages with special sauce

  • SUPER SALTY!!!! my tongue was numb and i had head ache the moment i chew it!
  • each of us took like 1-2 slices and told the staff took it away.
  • The chef and the manager told us that the sausage is originally salty as they didn't add any salt to season it. The manager commented that he was thinking to take this item out from their menu after our complaints and since there wasn't many customer ordered it. He also decided not to charge us for this item. (i hope he won't keep it for the next order from other customer)!!

My plate of food...

  • I didn't had any mood already after eating the sausages that's why there isn't any picture of the spicy chicken wing and shrimp with garlic sauce
  • However both the chicken wing and shrimp are nice!
  • From the picture above u can see the spicy chicken wing, it wasn't too spicy or salty but it was crispy!!
  • The shrimp is really fresh and the garlic sauce certainly brings out the shrimp freshness..
  • Like it!

After some 'discussions' with Queen, we decided to order our DESERT! They are plenty of variety of thier desert; tiramisu, werner's special , andreas special, mango sherbet, chocolate terrine, and many more. But in the end we decided to order Andreas special after some recomendations from the Manager. Since we had ordered it for sharing, he had decided to spilt it into 2 portions(cup)

Andreas Special...

  • It is good!
  • It contains of lots of chocolate biscuit crumbles on top of white chocolate ice cream with chocolae mouse. There are some slices of bananas , pears and raspberry inside the ice cream. Also a little bit taste of wine...
  • sinful but i love it!

After finish drinking my Lychee Martini, ice water and some beers, i decided to order one more drink for myself. As i browse through the beverages menu at the cocktail sections, I found out there is a column for CHAMPAGNE!! It is super hard to find bars or restaurant to serve champagne on glass, but this time Werner's offer champagne cocktail!!! Wow i was so excited. There are at least more than 5 types of champagne cocktails. The best part was, all the champagne cocktails are make of MOET & CHANDON!!!!! I was too exticed, wanted to order all of it!!! But was stop by others.. It was kinda pricey, one cocktail costs about rm55-70+ . I couldn't care less but order a cocktail called MIMOSA...

Mimosa

  • Mimosa consits of Moet & Chandon and fresh orange juice.
  • It was really good! Certainly Boom me up!! It was good until I had to control myself to drink it so slowly as I am afraid of finishing it too fast....I really enjoy it!
  • I wish to order more!!!

I will certainly visit Werner's again and try out more of the dishes offer in thier menu, especially the main course instead of tapas. Also I won't miss out the other Champagne cocktails and deserts! Yummy...

Overall rating:

  • Environment : 8/10 (i like the interior)
  • Food : 6/10 (havent try others)
  • Service : 7/10
  • Price : pricey.... depends on what u order, min Rm50 -drinks+food!
