Snacks from Macau and Hong Kong

Here are some snacks I bought from Macau and Hong Kong. I had tasted it my own and some i had share with my family and team members.

First, are the cookies from Kee Wah Bakery (available in both Macau and Hong Kong).
I had purchase 2 types of cookies from this bakery shop that is available at Venetian Hotel.
The first cookies that i picked was the Chocolate Almond Cookies.
After some 'sight seeing' in the bakery shop, Jaime suggest that i buy the Panda Butter Cookies as well.

Panda + Chocolate Almond Cookies

The Chocolate Almond Cookies is very fresh!! Although the chocolate taste is not very strong but the cookies ' aroma lasted even after you swallow it. There is a lot of almond in each cookies which added more flavours to it.

Chocolate Almond Cookies

The Panda Butter Cookies is fresh too. The butter smell is quite strong and is not very sweet. The cookie is very cute as it really looks like a PANDA! Suitable for kids!

Next, some famous candies from Macau, Peanut candies. There are a lot of shops or bakeries selling peanut candies along the Macau Street. However, I saw most of the tourists purchase their goods from a shop call Kok Kei Bakery.

So, we walked along the street and found it!.. It was actually situated towards the end of the street, nearby the tourist attractions, 'Memorial of Jesus'..The spokesperson or advertisement main actor of this bakery shop is a famous food critic in Hong Kong nickname 'Choi San'.

The Chewy Black Sesame Peanut Candies is certainly one of my favourite choice. This candy has lots of black sesame covering the whole peanut candy bar and it is not very sweet. Suitable for those who doesn't like too much 'sugar' in their candies. Unlike the other peanut candies, this Black sesame peanut candies is chewy and not hard.. So u don't have to worry that u will break your tooth by biting it like those that sell in Malaysia. Jin han like it a lot......

Chewy Black Sesame Peanut Candy

The next candy is called Peanut Candy. It just looks like the normal, authentic peanut candies that is sell in the pasar malam or supermarket.

Peanut Candy

To my surprised , the candies are very fresh. It doesn't have the type of smell ; where oil had been over heated and been used several times.(sorry don't know how to describe)

It is also very crispy, not too hard that will break your tooth hehe...But it is certainly sweeter than the black sesame peanut candies mentioned above. However, i enjoyed both the candies a lot...
The Kok Kei bakery is also famous for its Almond Biscuits. It really taste very good and fresh!. I didn't manage to took a picture of it, but i can said that it is worth to buy and try the almond biscuits. I am not a fan of almond biscuits, but this Kok Kei Bakery almond biscuits certainly is the best almond biscuits i had tasted so far!!
Will certainly shop at that place again if i am going Macau.

Overall rating:

  • Food : 7/10
  • Price : RM3-5 per packet (Kee Wah bakery ; each packet about 10-12 pieces of cookies),RM10 per packet (Kok Kei Bakery),

Funkees, Mamee

Just a short post.

This is the first time I blog about junk food....

I notice this 'junk food' around 7-11 and Jaime had also told me about it.
So i decided to give it a try.
Funkees are from MAMEE... yes our old time favourite 'junk food' MAMEE.....(the blue monster)
Funkees had 3 different flavour; Something (forgotten :P) Spicy , Wacky Chicken and Something (forgotten :P) Cheese.

My favourite is the Wacky Chicken.
It is the best among the others. I like it very much..One of my favourite junk food beside DORITOS!!!!

Funkees - Wacky Chicken

Funkees - Wacky Chicken (back)

But the only bad thing about this junk is , it makes u very thirsty after eating it.
That is why is advice to drink lots of water after eating it.
U can also drink some green tea to relief your thirstiness

p/s :
Andrew commented that this snack taste like MAMEE instant noodle chicken flavour :)
thanks a lot Andrew for helping me to take the pictures!!!

My Birthday Present from my good TeamMates

I know, i know my Birthday already passed for a few days.. But I am still keen to write post related to it. On 24th March 2008, my team mates gave me a 'surprise presentS 'for my birthday!!.

Is very hard for me to put in words how actually i feel...All I can say is I am very happy and touched by thier wonderful presents!..

The box of chocolate is from KoKo Bistro. The box consists of 8 pieces of chocolate, each different type. The 8 types are ; Strawberry-licious, Tangerine Crunch, Bliss Choc, Passionate, Amour Square, Noir, Au Lait and Blanc. The discription and details of the chocolate are stated behind the box. So far i had ate three all them, at it taste quite good!

8 types of chocolate.....

Desricptions of chocolate....

The 2 bottle of wines are ; Cabinet Sauvignon (Australian Wine) and Laus (Spainsh Wine, has limited details of it). But I am sure it will taste good as Wei Yun had put lots of effort in communicating with Jin which to purchase :)

Wines...

On the next day, I got another 'BIGGER' surprise!

Dlish Desert

Just a short post to update my blog.
I wanted to update about my trip and birthday, but i am still sorting out the photos.
Therefore i decided to update my blog on some nice desert from Dlish.

A few weeks ago, Wei Yun, Jin Han Andrew and I went to mid valley for a 'short tea break'. Jin Han suggested to go Dlish cafe as he enjoyed the quiet environment very much.Since Jin is known as the 'wise man' in our team, we agreed with his suggestion. In addition, i am a fan of Delicious, so i hope Dlish won't disappoint me.

The moment we reach Dlish, I was already very excited. This is because the deserts displayed are very attractive and interesting!!. Wei Yun and I were busy looking, pointing and discussing each of the cup cakes. While Andrew and Jin were just observing it from behind.

After some 'short' discussions, we finally decided to order a few desert and share among of us.I had selected the chocolate banana peanut butter cup cakes, Andrew had selected on the Rocky bar and Jin had suggested the chocolate raspberry cheese cup cake. Wei Yun just agree with all of our selections! I ordered a hot chamomile tea to go with the desert, while Wei Yun and Andrew ordered a bottle of mineral water each and Jin order a hot drink (i forgotten what was it already, sorry).

The Deserts.....

The desert is superb!. Love it, especially the chocolate banana peanut butter cup cakes!. I am a fan of chocolate and peanut butter. Thus this cup cakes doesn't disappoint me. The cake is soft, the chocolate has a lot of cocoa flavour rather than sugar sweet taste. The banana slices are fresh and chewy too. The aroma from the peanut butter certainly make the cake tastier!. The decoration of the cup cakes is also very nice, 'chocolate mazes' on top of the peanut butter. Yummy!!! This is one of the best cup cakes that i ever had.

Next, i tried the chocolate raspberry cheese cup cake...
For those who don't like 'very sweet' desert and love cheese will certainly love this. The cheese, raspberry and cakes go very well. The cheese is salty, raspberry is sour and the cake is sweet, u can have all 3 taste from this cake. Yummy. I believe this cup cake will taste better with a cup of coffee. But what had interest me the most in this cup cakes is the decoration ; 4 slices of milk chocolate folded on top of the cup cake. The milk chocolate taste good! Very rich milk chocolate!

The last desert, was the Rocky bar...
The rocky bar is very solid and hard. U need a knife to cut it into pieces. Its texture is similar to brownies. However, i only ate a small piece of it as it contains lots of raw coconut. I am allergic to raw coconut :(

But others said it was nice!!. There are chocolate, cherries and marshmallows inside this rocky bar.For those who love cherries and marshmallows will certainly enjoyed it.
Andrew and Jin had the most of it!!!

Overall rating:
  • Environment : 7/10 (very quiet and comfy sofas)
  • Food : 7.5/10 (for desert)
  • Service : 6/10 (quite fast, self service also available)
  • Price : RM50++ (for 3 deserts, 2 mineral water and 2 hot drinks)

Yum Yum Sik Sik at SS2 Pasar Malam

Mid of December last year, Kit, Jaime, Alvin, Money and I had an 'amazing race' at SS2 pasar malam.
We reach SS2 about 7.30pm and start our 'race' from the very first stall till the last one.
I cannot remember the whole details of the 'race' but all i can remember was all of us were very busy (especially our mouth & eyes) and sweat a lot. However, all of us had lots of fun and enjoyed it a lot.

I am sorry, as I am not going to desrcibe each of the food, as there are too many stalls at SS2 and we bought a lot of food... Overall most of the food taste good and affortable..

Below are some of the pictures taken on the food that we bought to eat at the apartment.
So enjoy the photo...Pasar Malam BOLEH!!!..

All the food that we bought! (oh my god!!!!)

Fried carrot cake: nice ; spicy & lots of 'choy bo'

Grilled Sotong & Yau Char Guai with Rojak sauce : Very nice; really enjoyed it lots of peanuts inside the rojak sauce. the Yau Char Guai is still crispy yummy!

Asam Laksa : Normal ; not the best i had tasted, nothing special

Chicken Satay : nice; not very oily and fat but the sauce is lacking of peanuts!

Special Chee Choeng Fun : quite nice ; never taste chee cheong fun like this before. it has dried shrimp, 'sengkuang' and some minced meat filling inside. It taste quite good with the green chilies.

Nyonya nasi lemak : so so only; not the nasi lemak that i will favoured the most. the rice has a lot of santan, sambal not very spicy (is make from dried shrimp paste, chilies& shallots) prefer the normal nasi lemak .

Roast Duck : So so only ; not the best roast duck i had tasted. The meat is not very hard but the skin is not crispy enough.

Sour & Spicy vegetables : not nice ; SUPER sour. i love sour & spicy vegetables but i don't enjoy eating this. (bought from the same stall of roast duck). not highly recomended unless u love SUPER SOUR vegetables.

Uncle Bob Fried Chicken Nuggets : Very nice; as ususal it didn't disappoint me!

Pandan flavoured sponge cake : nice ; very soft and great taste of pandan.

Sweet dumplings : quite nice; it is quite sweet , taste good with Kaya.

* forgot to take individual picture of the curry chicken pau, anyway it taste quite nice, the chicken curry is not very spicy good for a 'snack' *

overall : nice and fun race!.. hope can go together again .....

I am BACK!!!

Wow its been quite some times i update my delicious BLOG already
Been busy with my works, own stuff and of cause i have to admit that I was a bit lazy too.

Anyway, today i will start my blog with something simple..
On December last year, i was introduced by Jaime and Alvin to a new Pan Mee place at Kota Damansara.

The menu of the Restaurant

The Pan Mee restaurant is called Traditional Recipe Restaurant.
I ordered their 'Chief Recommendations' dish which is called Special Hand Make Teared Noddles
While Kit ordered Dry Wanton Noddle with pork knuckle and chicken feet (legs?).
Then we order a Chicken Floss Roll( Char leung) for sharing .

Each a drink ; Ice Honey Lemon for me and Hot Chrysanthemum Tea for Kit

My Special Hand Make Teared Noddle is actually the normal 'Min Fun Kui' where they used their hand to tear the 'flour' and cooked it. However some of the 'Min Fun Kui' dough was mix with 'celery'. Therefore my bowl of 'Min Fun Kui' is a mixture of 'normal dough' which is in white colour and 'celery dough' which is in green colour.

Special Hand Make Teared Noddle (with Fu Chok and chillies)
sigh..my N95 camera isn't very good in taking 'soupy food'

I am not a fan of celery but to my surprise this dough doesn't have a 'great' smell of the celery. So, i can accept this 'Traditional Recipe' from this restaurant.
The Restaurant is very generous with its side dishes. The bowl of 'Min Fun Kui' consists a lot of minced pork, anchovies, vegetables and mushrooms. They also served crispy fried bean curb skin (fu chok) together with the Min Fun Kui. As advised from Alvin, u can ask them to separate the Fu chok from the 'Min Fun Kui' so that it won't be soften by the soup and remain its crispy.
Overall i enjoy eating the noddle as it wasn't too salty and it is served with very good 'chilies'.

Dry Wanton Noddle with pork knuckle and chicken feet

On the other hand, Kit mention that his Dry Wanton Noddle with pork knuckle and chicken feet (legs?) wasn't as good he expected. He wasn't very satisfy with it. (too bad..)I didn't get to taste the noddle as I was too busy eating my bowl of 'Min Fun Kui'. But from the outlook of it, it certainly looks good.

Chicken Floss Roll( Char leung)

While the Char Leung tasted quite good as the 'Yau Char Guai' is still crispy and there is a lot of Chicken Floss inside it. I ate most of it. :)

Both the drink tasted normal nothing special about it.

Overall rating:
Environment : 6.5/10 (the restaurant is air conditioned)
Food : 6/10
Service : 6/10
Price : around RM25-27 for 2 person (2 bowl /plate of noodle, 2 drinks and 1 side order)
